Mixing Saltwater

If I made 20 gallons of saltwater letting it mix for 24 hours would I have to keep my powerhead mixing it until I use it? Or could I shut off the power head after 24 hours and then use the saltwater 2 days later. Does saltwater always have to stay moving to stay mixed?

Your better off to leave the powerhead in untill you use the water. Keeping the water moving helps get the disolved oxygen levels up.

No it does not need to be moving to stay mix. But you will want to check it for proper salinty because of evaprovation.

the important part when doing mixed saltwater is when you add salt in the water.
stir the water vigorously with a rod until you don't see anymore salt at the bottom of the water jug. After that, you can just leave it w/o P.Head or bubbles. Just leave the lid open so gas can escape from the jug.

I dump my water between two 5 gallon buckets until the salt is all dissolved. It also dissolves faster when the water is warmer.

Once your saltwater is properly mixed there is no evidence that it needs or benefits from any further aeration. Most people will tell you that is needed for one reason or another but it is not nessessary to run a powerhead after it is properly mixed. FWIW I mix 20g at once and use it over 3 weeks. and start over again.
