hahaha...when i first got my dwarf seahorses man they had a ball laughing thinking i'll have little horse races blahblahblah,lol....all in fun of course but they love poking fun whenever they can at me...but thats ok..i'd rather spend $50 on my tank than on worthless clothes and shoes i don't need(no offense to anyone) -when i was in college that was the biggest when they learned how expensive it was...but i knew yea i spend it on fish, but i dont get a new shirt and whatnot every other day.

I think it's a really neat hobby, but many people turn green when you talk about it. So let 'em laugh...their loss. Here's an even dimmer view of our society:
You know that show where you're asked questions, and you have 3 life lines?
Well, the question was:
"What revolves around the earth?"
a.) the Sun
b.) the Moon
c.) Mars
d.) Venus
The guy(well into his 30's) was uncertain
....so he asks the audience for help
~54% answered: a.) the SUN

Still the guy was uncertain... after several minutes he gave his final answer....
a.) the Sun...

So not only did he not know, but 54% of the audience did not know.

So the next time somebody gives you grief about your saltwater hobby. Ask them to explain how to "cycle" a tank, what is the correct salinity of a sw tank, explain the nitro/nitrate cycle of a tank, what is an amphiopod, what does a seahorse eat? etc etc...send them emails with images of "the Blue hole".
We could all ace a marine biology test...that's something that an every day "joe" can't do. So let them jeer...their loss...the wonders of the ocean are incredible, it is our hobby that allows us to take part of that

If I were to sit in that show I would definately give the wrong answer, I was that mean kid in school that would blurt out the wrong answer to get other poeple to say it, then laugh at them when the teacher looked at them incredulously. And me like a little devil. Seriously what revolved around earth? Come on if your that stupid...
Squirrel guts, man, how does he get the squirrel guts?

Yeah, I look pretty ragged, I don't spend any money on clothes, I buy fish food before I buy Ruben food. Some times I eat the fish food because I'm out of ruben food.

I guess I'm fortunate to not have my friends mock me! Once they hear the price tag, they think I'm nuts. But, when they find themselves captivated with the tanks beauty they start to ask questions and are amazed, not only at the knowledge I've gained on here, but the overall complexity of a saltwater tank. I haven't had anyone ridicule my time spent on here because of the amount of stuff I've learned, and they seem to respect that.

My Mom and Dad live in southern Wisconsin. Which animal has the highest death toll when it comes to roads?

Possums and armidillas. wait your saying he gets out of his car picks up the squirrel on the side of the road? You should video tape it and put it on utube so we can watch!

We certainly are not born into this world with name brand clothing. So why waste money on it...personally I think it looks better on the hanger
Especially when it comes to women's clothing. Who the heck can fit into a size 1, let alone a size 4. Especially when these stereo types come with a attitude to boot: " I'm so Plastic-it's fantastic...In a Barbie worrrllld...."
ppppllllllllllllllllllllleeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaase. Sure there are days I'd give just about anything to look like a goddess in a bikini...but looks are only skin deep.
I'd say that the attitude here on the forums is golden! Tell you plastic friends to go jump in the ocean

I get made fun of a little but it seems to work out that the people that make fun the most are the ones that usually spend the most amount of time in front of my tank when they come over..

I was halfway reading the thread when this came to mind. Ppl make fun of me and then come over the house and stare at the tank saying how nice it looks...

To me funny is oh so sexy. The best my girl looks is when she is laughing or giggling. And not trying to be attractive.

Neat friends. What is their hobby?
