moderators need to calm down

cant say a diff site
cant say pm me for a diff site
cant say email me for a diff site
now they let people sell stuff cheaper on this site that they sell
but you cant put a site where they sell stuff cheaper???
i get they are trying to make money but this site is too help people
and they are givin infractions for helping people
they are just trying to make a buck not to help people

There are rules on this board. The moderators don't make them up, they just enforce them.

i realize there are rules but alot of em are just on power trips and need to calm down you can also tell that they play favorites cuz there are some people that post links all the time and are still here and they dont delete their posts

No, that is not the case at all. If links to competitors are posted they are deleted and the person is warned.

I understand how they can't allow some links and not others to be posted, it would be to confusing. So the rule is simple no links to competitors sites.
Now with that said and some one is looking for a refractometer and swf.com does not carry one we should be able to post were to find a affordable one. We are here to help eachother.

I agree with the policy, it's just common sense, and if we want to be on their site, that they own, we abide by it. And it's not the moderator's fault.
That said, IMO, a SW site should sell "everything" related to this hobby. Doesn't mean they have to stock it, or ever even touch it. For such items, find one or two reputable products, setup drop shipping with that company, advertise it here and let the other co. drop ship annon. SWF never has to touch it and can still make a buck, and be able to say...we offer it here.

Show me a business other than non-profit charitable organization that isn't out to make a buck. I couldn't go to your place of work (or your parents if you aren't working yet) and try to sell their competitor's products on your employer's property. This is SWF's virtual property so the same logic will apply.

Ok, I kind of have a problem with new people coming to the site, and complaining. This site is offered for FREE, and the swf owners have the right to do what they want. Plain and simple. Why would they want other sites being advertised? And as "they let people sell their stuff here", I doubt that someone who frags coral once every two months is really going to be a threat to their buisness. The mods do a wonderfull job. And if you have a problem with them then get off the boards.

Stop whining, sounds to me like you are just here to push your agenda to buy SW equipment from a different site. I have been here numerous years and not once has this imposed on my ability to find a "deal" if I want to find one.
I work at home depot part time, do you think Lowes would let me stand in there store and tell every customer the items they can buy cheaper at Home depot? Doubt it. Grow up.

being on this site isnt a right, its a privilege. SWF is a company, and has this site primarily to get customers. they let us use it for free, and in return ask us to abide by certain rules. i dont see anything outrageous about that.

This forum is the property of SWF.COM. They are a for-profit company. This forum is hosted by them as a beneficial service to their customers as well as to promote their business. You've made the false assumption that the primary reason this forum is here is to help people find the best deals, etc. It is not. This forum is here to help people in the SWF hobby. There is a big difference.
Again, SWF is a business. They have costs, employees to pay, themselves to pay, these forums to pay for, etc. You shouldn't expect to use their forums free and not abide by their rules; Rules which are fairly lenient in comparison to other forums.
As Moderators we enforce the rules for the forums of SWF. We do not make them. It's not really true to say you understand the rules but then argue about us enforcing them.
We are not on any kind of power trip. As Moderators we have our own section of the forums where we discuss posts, etc. None of the Mods are on a power trip or have gone off the reservation so to speak. If any one of us did, the others would be quick to call them on it. Every one of us Mods, despite our different backgrounds, experiences, and views, share one thing; We love and are dedicated to this community.
We do not show favoritism. That is a blatantly false accusation. We miss posts, sure. We don't intentionally allow posts that are in violation of the rules to stand, no matter who posts them, however. Feel free to use the PM feature to alert any of the Mods of a thread you think is in violation.
Mods do have to make judgement calls in grey areas, especially threads posted in "The Aquarium". We walk a fine line; knowing that adults and children all post here. We strive to keep this forum as "family oriented" as possible, while still allowing adults to have discussions. Sometimes we allow links here (though never to any site that violates the posting rules) and other times we do not. As I said, that's often a judgement call. If someone posts a YouTube thread and says "Hey, watch my 30 minute movie" chances are it will be deleted. You need to remember Mods are volunteers. None of us want to watch a 30 minute link to see if it is appropriate.
I'm going to lock this thread. The rules for SWF's Forums are not open for discussion. It's their site, play by their rules. Feel free to use the PM feature to report any thread where you feel "favoritism" is being shown or if you need more clarification.

I was courtious and PMed you and posted in the link where you were breaking the rules of this board and told you they were in violation. YOU choose to ignore that freindly reminder of the rules which gave you an infraction on your account. WE the moderators as stated enforce the rules of the board WE don not make them.
Anyone that is told "this is the rules of the board please abid by them" and choose not to abide by them will get an infraction posted to their account. Infractions can result in your posting rights being revoked for violating the rules. The moderators dont just give these infractions out to be giving them but when the rules are ignored even after being asked to abide by the rules then thats what happens. plain and simple!!!
