Modifying tank

I need to modify my tank by cutting away some of the glass bracings at top of tank edge.. This is to acommodate new hoses etc.
Anyone had a go at cutting the bracings or similar?

Haven't tried it, but I would be very cautious. You may be compromising the structural integrity of the tank. It may not be able to bear the same load after that.

I would agree with Buzz, the more holes you put in something that will contain water the more the possibilities exist for a leak or structural integrity.
If you could explain the situation perhaps we could come up with some alternitives.

Thanks for replies
I am upgrading from UGF (had it for a year) to Fluval 304 cannister. I will need to modify the hood (not a problem) and the hoses need to go over the glass bracing.
It is not the bracing that goes from front to back that is in the way, but the thinner ones that run from left to right. I was thinking of modifying these to allow for the hoses.
It may just go over the bracings, but looks quite bulky and awkward that way.
I know the pros and cons of cannisters, DSB and LR in UK cost way more than USA.

Just to be sure........can you post a pic? maybe show us the bracings you are refering to? I'm not sure I follow you 100%, and I am curious.

Pics here. The lid is moved forward and it is the brace from left to right that the hoses will need to go over.

Tis odd, is the glass bracing running the length of the tank? Is it all around the tank? is it attached to the moulding?

The bracing from left to right is at the front and back of the tank. The condensation tray rests on it. There is a small gap at the ends of less than an inch and is siliconed to the tank.
There is only the main brace in the centre that runs from front to back and it is siliconed to the two that run left to right (at front and back).

So I take it the bracing is in the shape of an "H" on the tank. What size tank are we taking about? Possible of removing the bracing completely by cutting along the silicon? Looks like it would be difficult to even put an external overflow on there, let alone a saddle filter.

Here is a top view of the tank. The black outline is the tank and the blue are the glass bracings.
The Fluval hoses will come from behind the tank and over the glass braces, unless I can cut them. I don't want to remove the whole bracing (it must be there for a reason), or the thicker centre bracing.
I am wondering if I could cut the thinner back bracing so the hoses will sit better.
Tank is 36 L x 15 W x 18 H
