The current plan is only for 30 gallons, moderate light (8-10WPG, VHO), rubbermaid sump/refugium, DIY light hood, DIY stand, DIY protien skimmer, 3/4 of the rock artificial instead of all live. And the parts list doesn't include any organisims beoynd a cleaner crew. The $1000 will just barely get me past tank cycling.
I've got the current parts list down to the number of PVC elbows and flexible hose clams I'll need. The current total is 848.99 (some items still approximations), and the live rock/sand/cleaner crew will be another $300 or so.
With the understocked live rock/sand and only a bit of "gulf coral rock" for starter showpieces, I'm going to have to have patience to equal what I didn't spend in cash. When I see that I can make the plankton and live rock organisims thrive for awhile, then I'll invest in showier pieces.
Is there still a major flaw in my plan now that I am more specific?
