Reefer that sold me his RBTA last week has used fiberglass for the back and bottom of his tank. Pretty interesting :) His is an SPS tank and I think it's 220 gallons.

Well I got home late and won't get to finish tonight, but here are some pics. They look much darker purple then they are in person and because of that you also lose a lot of the depth perception and texture, but I think you get the idea. I was just going to surprise you guys with a pic in the tank and reveal the purple, but I wanted to post something tonight. The purple color is from a very light coat of purple primer (plumbing pvc primer). I read about several people doing this and their tanks have been up and running for a while without any issues so I figured I'd try that too.

I think its pretty cool. I wasn't aware that Great Stuff was tank safe?
I suppose coating it in epoxy will make anything safe.
I believe you are correct.I believe its because UV light will over time break down regular GS Foam
This type is though. And so is Beckett foam

I only got two panels in last night, although I'm still working on how to hold down the overflow cover since there is no top lip to wedge it under.
I've got a bunch of really big live rock peices available now :)

I figured out what I'm going to do with the overflow wrap, but it means I have to build a special brace to keep it in place so I won't be finishing tonight so here are a couple of lousy pics of what i have so far. the tank is a mess and the rock that is in front is just laying where ever I had room and is not in it's eventual home. Even though everything is a mess I really love the way it looks and the pics don't do justice to the color and dimension of it.

Question I know I may be a little slow on the up take but did you cover the foam entirely with epoxy to seal it????

I covered the face of it, not really to seal it, but more to protect it from the uv light. You don't have to do that it you use the pond foam, but I wanted to stick sand to it anyway.

5 cans, less is more, it really expands. I would recommend trying it on a peice of newspaper or something disposable first to get a feel for how it expands.

Mine isn't attached. I just made the eggcrate the same size as the back wall and then wedged it under the back lip.
I think you have to make your own :), but I'm happy to help along the way.
