Molt Crazy!

On Feb 17th, I bought 2 shrimps (among other things) from SWF.com. One (blood red fire) shrimp molted on his first night and died the next day (complications during molting I presume, he lost his big claw). Since then, my other shrimp, the cleaner shrimp, has molted three times. Yes your heard right, three times in less than a month. He seems happy though, and does not look ill. Can someone tell me why my shrimp has molted three times in less than one month? And is something wrong with my tank? More importantly, will my shrimp be okay? Thanks.

my sally has molted several times the corner of my tank looks like a grave yard for them. I think its better water quality and the elements that are need to molt are in the tank so it does. the only problem is if there are complications it could cause death and each molt is different.

Your first shrimp didn't make it because of either preillness before you got it, too fast to acclimate or the other shrimp ate it when it molted (they will do that you know)
Your cleaner shrimp I'm assuming was very small when you got it - Mine was real tiny and molted three times ina month as well. Now that he's bigger (use to be shy now eats from my hand) he only molts monthly.

sometimes they die because of molt complications aswell not just preillness or something eating it just after molt.
I had a shrimp in my last tank that I watched molt walk a few inches away from the molt and fall over dead. NO Joke!!
now for some reason I cant keep SW shrimp alove for more than a few hours no matter what I do and those pesky ghost shrimp live for days. who knows LOL
