Monti Caps next to each other

I have a Red Monti Cap and an Idaho Grape would there be a problem placing them next to each other so they would grow together and look like one cap with two different colors? I want to make sure they will not kill each other?
Thanks

I have seen that before. This guy had a green and a purple rim growing together and they were fine. It looked awesome! I would wait for someone with experience doing it though. But I think it would be fine.

its fine. caps r relatively weak compared to other sps when fighting back. but they will fight back by outgrowing or growing around its neighbor.

agree with nycbob, they should be fine but one is usually slightly more dominant and will possibly outgrow the other in some areas, just frag the offender if it gets to be too much for your liking, they are pretty hardy and recover pretty fast usually. Good luck

I have done it and it worked out fine. And did it another time and one was dead in two days.

my plating are ok next to each other buy my supper man encrusting started to melt when they grew to close.
So I would think plating is ok with caution but encrusting and plating are a no no

I have and have always had a bunch of caps growing near and up against each other. Where they touch, they simply stop growing, but grapes are pretty slow growers and the red ones grow very fast. I think this is what was meant earlier in nycbob's post, but I'll post it anywayt. I can see the red over shadowing the purple rather quickly.

I have two different varieties of orange monti cap. One is thicker and more resilient against other SPS. The thicker one is overgrowing the thiner one at a fast rate. The thiner one is next to a green monti cap that is the thin type also and they grow near each other and stop growing. The Thin orange one grew near my green slimmer and killed the part of the branch it encroached on.

yeh its fine.. sps isnt half as bad as lps at fighting. specially montis. I'd say if anythin they might grow together... but I'd say if you see a lil discoloring at the nearest points, back them off a lil. other than that, they should be fine
