monti in trouble?

i recently had a nitrate spike (dropped a large piece of frozen food in the tank after stabbing myself in the finger) and some of corals took a hit, this is a small orange monti frag that lost a lot of its color and now seems to be growing some green algae or something on it, it is not hair algae but almost like a coraline hard algae (if it is algae at all) anyone know what it might be or how to protect the monti from it?

Is it an encrusting monti. Coraline algea seems to like dead encrusting montis. For some reason. I had a superman monti that coralline algea loved. In my experience encrusting montiporas are a little harder to keep them monti caps. and digitata. Got to be in the perfect spot.
