Montipora Under This Lighting?

Would a Montipora be okay under this.
Current USA (2x54w) T5's? My guess would be no but what do you guys think?
It is a 55g.
Maybe I could find a small frag and try...?

I have one in my 55gal, but its under 4 t5's. Mine has doubled in size in about 3 months. Under 2 t5's I don't think it will be enough unless its very high up in the tank. Does the light have individual reflectors? What bulbs do you have?

which montipora? I'm willing to bet you could grow a brown digita in the upper center regions. I wouldnt try anything bright colored though chances are it would just brown out, then pass on.

your basic capricornis (orange, green or purple cap) will EASILY grow under that and maintain color if placed relatively high (probably not even required to be that high, just under the lamps). I put a couple frags at the top of my biocube for kicks (24wx2 pc one 10k and one actinic). both frags have done GREAT! grown way off the plugs onto the rocks with growth edges showing from every angle. this is far from a prestine water set up either (is that even possible in a skimmerless biocube 14g with fish. holds 10g of water BONE dry and filled to the rim).

i disagree. no way he can grow monti in a 55 with his current light amount. his is much more diffused then yours is.

nova even with the lack of individual reflectors is no less diffuse or potent then pc. pc lamps CANT be reflected directionally and are ALWAYS diffuse (why they went out of favor to begin with). like I said placed UNDER the lamp his set up is at least the equal to mine and if aquascaped high far superior. its not like the theres rows of tubes over the biocube, the two lamps probably cover 25% of the tank and diffuses over (covers) the who area of the tank. the flat sheet reflector it comes with isnt even good compared to formed (bent) pc reflectors on better pc set ups that might shoot a little more light downward. my light cycle on that tank is 4 hours a day
which is next to nothing. these caps came directly from my other tank midway up under 150wx2 halide 30g on 8hrs a day into the stock biocube. the caps in the biocube do great in growth and color. look just as good as the ones in the other tank. I put two more frags at the (bare) bottom shaded by other corals in the 30g with (weak 150w) halides, same difference.
this is not a matter of speculation. I've put MULTIPLE cap frags under poor and good light conditions (worse and better than 2 bulb nova T5), both average and prestine water conditions. they ALL do well regardless and seem to be as indifferent as most LPS. if others fail to do the same dont immediately contribute it to lighting. I'm sure theirs some lineage of cap that might require high light but there are those (mine) that do not.
