They are not a necessity, but they are nice to have so you can keep a tab on any possible coral eating night critters, and keeping nighttime fin nipping down. They do have moonlights with a suction cup, I used that type before I bought the moonlight strips I have now.

Hello,
I am looking for a good light set up.
And the nova pro 36 " is one of them.
so what do you think of it so far.

I have a reefkeeper and with it I am able to use their moonlights. Not trying to sell you on the reefkeeper but rather show you the moonlights they offer. They are small LED lights and I have 3 of them on my 90. When my moon phase is full they are knockout bright. The blue they give off is really nice and you can put them in the smallest of space. Maybe that will help?
