we've had them at work before, and they do eat pretty much anything you give them. apparently it isn't enough though, because they all usually die after about three months.
hope you have better luck with yours though.

kumiko, give the guy a break. He/she is happy, so let him/her enjoy that. About what's going to happen in three months, nobody knows :D .
Congrats and I hope everything works well.

There is a pet shop in Greensboro, NC that has had one for years. They are not impossible to keep, just difficult.

Look at him. He is beautiful.

well if mine has a chance to live it will be in my tank, I have extremely good water quality and filtration, he ate as soon as I took in out of the bag, so I'm happy see ya

the tank is a 125, very nice acrylic tank, I tend to have the best luck, knock on wood, with extremely difficult fish to keep, so I'm looking on the upside to this as of right now, and as for anyone else who has a negative comment or would like to rain on my happy day, please keep your comments to yourself thanks

i was not trying to "rain" on their parade, i'm sorry if i came off that way. it just bothers me to see the poor fish taken out of the wild and being stuck into a little tank. it really bothers me when my manager buys fish that are most likely not going to survive in captivity, and also when people buy these fish from our store knowing they do not have a very good survival rate at all. people who buy them are just supporting this bad habit by allowing for another one to replace it and be bought. the worst case i've seen of this are the mandarins. people keep buying them (not saying people on here, but people who come into the store i work at), even though they know their requirements and they know they can't fulfill them. so what happens? the manager orders three more, they sell in two weeks, and customers come in and complain about how their beautiful little fish is starving to death.
after watching shows like blue planet, i kind of regret owning a saltwater tank. i feel bad about having the fish i own, because i'm sure they would be much happier where they were before they were caught.
i guess i'm just saying that people really need to research saltwater before they get into it. they need to reasearch each individual fish they plan on buying. their requirements, what's compatible with what, etc. working in the pet industry, i don't think i can stress it enough.
once again, this is not aimed at all towards anyone on this board (well most of you anyways!), i guess this post just brought about this issue that has been on my mind for a while.
sorry for venting. =)
