moorish Idol

Basically everything I have heard about them indicates that they really need to be kept in the ocean!!!
Some fish just are not suited to captive environments....and the moorish idol seems to be at the top of that list.
I'm sure thats not what you wanted to hear....but thats the direction all info I've seen tends to go!!!

There are 2 or more LFS around my area has around 6+ and they look just fine and beautiful! Kept with other fish, too. Pet shops are called Exotic Aquariums and Strictly Fish forgot (other names)

I had luck with M.I.s...all bad. Not from dying but from not being reef safe. I tried about four over the years in my reef and kept one over six months before he started nipping coral.
I have not owned one in about 3 years now. Dont see them for sale so much anymore.
I could always get them to eat.
The secret was I didnt buy one that didnt eat in the LFS.
Sad but things have changed and maybe someone will figure the diet out for them........
Nice fish
