Ok So I went to catch fish for my tank today, everything was going good, I cought some puffers, then I feel onto a tide pool with the biggest eal I have ever seen, so what due I due. I go after him My net was not even close to being big enough, it was a stuggle I pinned him down with my net and I held his tail with my hand, I put him in a cooler and took him to the pet store, they told me it was a moray eal and I could keep it. So i put it in my fish tank and anyone can see that he dwarfs the tank he is a good 3 and a half feet long and real real thick. I dont know if he is going to last I am sure the ride over hear was not so pleasent. Well if any one has any suggestion about it let me know.

How big is the tank?
You may want to be careful, in most areas it's not legal to bag your own, especially if you unknowningly grab a protected species.

I am not sure about the one I kept, or about the one I let go, the one I let go was Gray with blue spots all over, the one I kept is a baby with red, green and gray. I have to look them up to find out for sure. The eel is doing fine he is just shy durring the day, at night though he comes alive with my other eel. I think he might eat my coris wrasse when ever it comes out from hideing. but the puffer is toxic so i think it will leave him alone. anytips on feeding him?

Ya you might not want to due that in Hawaii, I am sure they are pretty concerned with what people due to the habitat around there. About shipping fish, Its a good thought but a lot tuffer than one would imagine, I would let the pros handle that. But it were easy you could make a lot of money. But I live in Micronesia, an Island called guam its part of a chain that makes up the marianas Islands its about 3500 miles east of Hawaii, over in Asia. The laws a not really inforced here, its a little more primative, locals still fish for food each day and live off the land. There are places that are prohibited but a lot of the Island is not. The fish here are much the same as hawaii and a little extra, but I love being able to catch what I want and bring it home. The eel I cought last was amazing, he is pretty big and was a struggle to net, so it makes keeping the fish that much better when you found it and worked for it.

:nope:
Take the fish back to where you found them! It is like you going to somones house and taking their kids. Same with fish, they have family too you took them away from.
not to sound harsh or anything, but take them back and do the right thing.

And you think if he bought the from a store they come from a magic hole in space? The ones in stores near him were probably wild caught too. Many species of fish you buy even in America are still wild caught.
Handled right, he is probably getting healtier specimens by collecting them himself.

Wow thanks for sticking up for me, I really dont get to replie to these post as soon as i want because we are on in a diffrent time zone. But I want to make things clear, nothing that i due is wrong or against the law, there are reefs, parks, and beaches that are protected but not the whole Island. Maby you have grown a little to attached to your fish, cuz they are not as readaly acessable to get as other of us have. My eel is doing fine so is the puffer, the pets stores around here, well the 2, localy catch theres and import them from Aisa, I could catch some rare fish and sell them to the pet store. Things are totally diffrent from the states, you have to through out what you know, and have come to belive and learn a new way of living. I am quite positive that if you lived over here you would want to catch your own fish. or I suppose I could ask saltwaterfish.com to send some clown fish 8000 miles in a freaking plane, but that might be worse than me going out my backyard and catching the little thing.

Nice eel...could be an adult yellowmargin...but the pic is a little too small to tell.
How cool it must be to be able to find your own fish!
