I love the logic here... one guy proposes something unpopular so the conclusions is that this is what the Democrats stand for. So by your logic, since David Duke is a Republican then republicans hate blacks and jews, right? And the funniest thing is that some people (see above) just blindly buy into this flawed logic. People crack me up sometimes.

I agree... no one, especially democrats don't want to pay anymore at the pump... What I find interesting is that Republicans don't want to be blamed for the gas prices skyrocket... I keep hearing so many stories about this... the 1st that demand was causing the increase in prices... but that is not the case... last I heard is that refineries are operating at below 90% because they are making no money on the gas they create... but what is suprising is that the oil companies are making record profits.. I then hear about how all the refineries are out of date and loose production because of mechanical malfunctions... At the start of the war gas was $1.73.. now it is around $3.50 or more ... This is what is fueling the Recession...... It just seems to me Republicans always want to point the finger..

I'd like to see a source for your refinery claim. I love how the term recession is thrown around when the average growth after inflation over the last 2 quarters is still 2.5% GDP.

You expect facts from people who talk in soundbites from the Democrat party talking points. Once someone says we are in a recession they display their ignorance of economics. We haven't had a quarter of negative growth yet, let alone two. Very well could be headed that way but until we have the first quarter of negative growth its all just a guess.
The price of a barrel of oil is not affected in any way shape or form by our refining capacity. Oil prices are set on the world market. All supply and demand. All you have to do is look to India and china's increased demand for oil to see the reason for the prices. Where US refining capacity causes increases in gas prices is leading into the fall when fuel oil and winter blends of gasoline must be refined and in the spring when supplies need to be increased for increased demand for summer months.
As far as "record profits" for the oil companies I guess it's going to be difficult for someone who doesn't know what a recession is to grasp this. As a return on investment the oil company profits were nothing spectacular. The oil companies spent hundreds of billions to produce their product. They had a profit margin just over 11%. I guess the liberals have a problem with someone getting a return on investment of 11%.

I'd say tie their raises into the same percentage they give Social Security recipients every year.
