more light questions

I am looking at upgrading my light system,
I currently have 65w PC,
I was planning on t-5's, but why go with them (or even mh's)
over pc's if you can get a similar wattage? (lfs said that was really all that mattered)
what else is important (light spectrum?)
my tank is a 25 gal...

On a 25g tank, it doens't matter of which you use, your tank is not deep enough for MH nor VHO nor T-5. Depth is the really big reason you chose one light over another. You could have a 500 gallon tank, but if its only 15" deep you could still use PC and house everything.
