we have a 75gal. with a humu triger in it now with 3 clowns and a red serepent star fish. the trigger leaves everyone alone. we where thinking about transfering the clowns to our 46 gal.and putting another trigger in the 75gal. what would you advise for another trigger?

Honestly , Unless you plan on upgrading tanks then 1 humu humu trigger is going to be it . Once it hits a certain size its going to fight with other triggers in a tank that size . Its just a matter of over lapping territory . You will eventually loose one or both triggers due to aggression and stress .
Now I am sure it won't be long before the peanut gallery chimes in about multiple triggers and overstocking working . But I personally would not get a second trigger . You might opt for a wrasse or a smaller eel species such as a zebra or snow flake , Possibly even a few damsels or a maroon clown fish .

i agree. humu's get large and very aggressive and you would see bad behavior in a tank that size in a short amount of time. They may be okay for a while but ultimately would fight. There is going to be someone that will come along shortly and say it is okay and i would advise you to not listen to him.

I have a Huma around the 2" mark...maybe a bit bigger. I tried to add a Niger that I had in another tank with it...
. The Huma was relentless in its attacks. Chased it up behind the return line, and any time the Niger came out it would again be attacked. I turned out the lights for the night and everything calmed down...the next morning same scenario. I went to get the Niger out, and I swear it jumped into the net
. The short of the long...if someone was going to try it, be sure to have a backup plan, and hopefully the attacked will be alive to move.

well my humma and niger get along fine just the humma gets to eat first. lol but he tends to share the rest when he is full. i figure within a year we will be moved up to 120gal at least.

It really does depend on the personality of the specific fish. If you really want to add one, you must really upgrade your tank in about a year ish. Most people expect to upgrade then when the time comes, they don't have the money/time/effort to do it. there are always exceptions, of course myself as an example. I would have set up a 100+ to begin with but I had to move into an apt. before my husband got back from overseas until we bought a house. Now doing a 150g with 4 triggers, 2 maroon clowns, 2 pyjama cardinals, and a huge onespot foxface. (also gonna add a red coris for some sand fun) Whichever way you choose, GOOD LUCK
