I was wondering what some of the basic beliefs are. The only mormons that I know are wack jobs, and i wanted to know if that came from the religion or just a coincidence (not trying to be rude, if it comes off that way, then I apologize.) I hear about a lot of religions beliefs like catholic, jewishness (not sure of the correct term) and others, but am not familiar with mormonism.

I did not see the other thread. BUT I just dont like how they go door to door. If someone wants to be a mormon then they will go to the church

I believe the term is jewdism . But I am sure either journey or crimzy can give you the actual term .

I do not like to be bothered either, i feel that some people are definitely a little pushy from my church when inviting people to church. BUT, i do understand that they are simply trying to minister to people, and give them "their truth" in hopes of saving them.
There are people that would not go to a church unless someone came and invited them.....So it works for some, and angers others.
I am not a mormon, i am pentecostal. I do not associate with the pentecostal religion or organizations though, because i do not see the reasoning behind standards and beliefs set by some people. I simply go to a pentecostal church because i adore the pastor, he is a wonderful man, and i do not feel that my church looks at surface of people or focuses on rules that religious Big Wigs made. My outlook is that i follow everything in the bible, and take gods word as examples, not absolutes.

My grandfather is has a masters degree in theology from ST Thomas university and taught there for years on religions. So i will ask him for a brief ex. and let you know what him and my grandmother say about mormonism.

well ric im sorry to hear that you have mormons that work with you but on your question if they are normaly crazy as in what terms do you mean some are.....i dont know how to put it but.......it is hard to say well i belive that even though you think some are crazy in my own opinion i think that all people have thier own charechteristics and are all different.
and another question was posted why do missionarys go door to door
well i am 13 and i have very little knowlege but i will try my best i have had one brother that went on a mission to goiongia brazil
and my other brother gnorman is in buenos aires south argentina the thing is that i have heard stories from my other brother who went to brazil that the people they are very courteous and kind no matter what circumstances but from other missionarys in my ward they say that they have had people cuse at them
yell at them
slam the door on them
etc.
from my own opinion i myself think it is very challenging to be a missionary because of above
even though people are rude to missionarys they still try do do what they belive in
when missionary go from door to door
they know that they will have the above done to them
i hope i have ex. it enough
many people would not have an interest in being apart of of our chuch but when missionary go from door to door it give people an oppritunity to be apart of not just our church but any church also

we are also considered christian
christians believe in three people
heavinly father, jesus christ, and the holy ghost but what they believe that we dont is that they believe that they are all one person
what we believe is that they are 3 separate biengs

Hey the Mormons push some really nice programs as far as making a strong family and while my dads family are pretty much a bunch of self rightous greedy insert profanity here I know others who are really nice people. My objection is purely theological, not the people. There's good and bad people in all religions.

Not all christians believe that there are 3 seperate beings. I am a pentecostal, and believe GOD is 1 being, not 3.
The main difference between mormons and christians is that they believe in a book that was written by a man who believed to have recieved a word from an angel. Then wrote down what he heard and it is now the book of mormon.

I do not go to church, I used to but havent lately. I think there is a god, jesus was a great man, and all that good stuff. I do not get why every religion is so crazy about the details? AND the other thing I HATE about some religious is when they think your going to hell and are a horrible person if you do not believe the same as them.
to each his own

I feel the same. The only thing I would add is how much I hate that certain religions try to push their religion/beliefs onto others.

Dont the mormons believe that jesus came to America after his supposed resurrection?
lol... not quite... they do believe that joseph smith went into the forest and found some "golden tablets" that no one has ever seen except for a "chosen few"... and from these "tablets" the book of mormon was written two different times and not quite the same way both times...
one of the strangest beliefs is that woman can only be called up to the mans "heavenly planet" by serving her man to his total wants/needs/desires...
