I think the original thread is far away from what was originally thought of. Movies that you thought sucked that everybody else raved about.
One obsure one comes to mind was this Joni movie in 1980. Theaters were packed, lines out the door. So I got suckered into go to it, because it was a supposed phenom...probably one of the most boring movies to me that everybody needed to go see.
I was like....I don't get it. Girl clumsliy dives in the water in a pond and brakes her neck?
Natures way of weeding out the dumb no?...here people are in tears over this thing...and I just didn't get the deal.
To me no different from getting attacked by a bull shark swimming in the costal waters of Florida...eventually you'll get bit...
PS Hollywood couldn't make a decent movie to save itself now.

...For those who thought 300 sucked, has to watch it on a large widescreen TV with great surround sound speakers!!! Excellent movie!!!
I paid and saw it on the big screen in a theatre.
Still sucked imo. Like i said, great true story that they twisted into a semi-cartoonisque monstrousity.

That is one of the biggest hollywood blunders.
They took acting out of movies and replaced it with computer animated graphics.
It is a downfall that I thought started with Star Wars the Phantom Menace. Not enough of the human element and too much stale acting with no counterpart.

wow I guess there isn't 2 many people here that are movies buffs I seen alot of movies mentioned that are great movies also some that are classics very view that are bad and for anyone that watches 15 minutes of any movie isn't aloud to give there 2 cents theres alot of movies that I will only watch once but still think there good or alright very few can I say that are bad
movies go hand in hand with music some people say they like music but only like there kind of music other people are music lovers and like all kinds and respect the talent but still have a certin type that they mainly listen 2

Whatever 300 was a fun movie, blood, guts, so many arrows that the sky was darkened, crazy bad guy, and more blood and guts! What more could you want in a movie?

Or maybe it was the crappy storyline?
More seriously, Lucas made his name doing something never done before. With all the space ships and wierd looking characters. That was the movie. Not the story.
Then 25 years later tried to do the same thing, but now everyone and a pipple faced 12 year old can do the stuff he did in the episodes I-III movies. so the story was worse, (the hero failed) he didn't have the eyecandy. He was doomed to have lousy movies.

I didn't go through all the posts here, but I would have to say every movie that won an Oscar after 1985 I would put in the poopoo category.
Movies I thought were spectacular and worth watching repeatedly are never even nominated.
