I am going up yp a 75 today. i bought everything and I was goint to set it up. Can anyone tell me what the simplest way to do this is?
I have a 29 now with 3 damsels and an anemone, along with about 30lbs of lr. I plan to set the 29 underneath the 75 to use as a refugium after I do some adjustments to it.
Any suggestions would be wonderful!!!!!!!!!! BTW I am getting more sand and LR so dont worry, and I have two ballasts to install in my canopy! I am so excited.

Put the sand in, put the rock in, then put the water in.;)
Ok Ok . . . . Get some buckets, you're going to need em. Take your rock, and put it in buckets and fill with tank water. Take your livestock and put them into another bucket filled with the old tank water. All that should be left in your old tank at this point is sand and water. Transfer water from the old tank to the new tank. But make sure that this is the only water in the new tank. Then add all of you old sand and new sand to the bottom. Place your rock in there and then place your livestock in there. Just put them in there, dont worry about placement because your tank is most likely milk at this point. Place them in there final spots later when you can see. Now, you tank is not going to be full, so start adding fresh saltwater to the tank slowly over the next couple hours to slowly fill up the tank. By adding the new water after the livestock, you dont have to acclimate them as you put them into the new tank. You can just dump them right in.

Well, maybe . . . maybe not. Its hard to say. But the key here is to save ALL of your old water. So like I said, dont use any new water at all until everything is in the new tank, then slowly ad new saltwater until the tank is full. Add about a gallon or so an hour and you will be full in no time, but remember, try and keep the new saltwater as close to the original water as possible. Same sailinity, and temp. Doing this is less stressfull on your animals and is easier on you IMO. I did this, but between two apartments and I never cycled and I didnt lose a single animal. Worked out quite well.

I'm going from a 29 to a 75 tomorrow. I have a b unch of saltwater mixed in the basement an three 22 gal tupperware containers ($4 at walmart) to use as holding tanks while I move the 75 to the spot where the 29 is. Assuming that I won't see a cycle but you know what they say about assumptions.
