Moving 55gal. tank

Not to sure what I should do with my current sand bed.
It's 3in deep and far to heavy to move in the tank.
Should I scoop it out and re-use it?
Any advice would be great.
Only moving 5 miles from current Location.

Welcome to the boards. Whenever I moved my tank I scooped all the sand out, added the sand back in, then slowly added water not to stir up the sand bed or cloud up the water.

Do you think my nitrates will go through the roof?

My nitrates were a little high after I did that same thing but not too bad and didn't last long after I added the chaeto.
