I have a 37 gallon High tank with 20 lbs of live sand about 40 lbs of live rock, and a green chromis.....the tank is just about at the end of its cycle.....unfortunatley am moving in the next few weeks.....Any tips on how to move the tank??? It isnt a long distance away, just 3 blocks, and i dont want to have to start the cycling process over again.,....
thanks

chances are you'll start the cycle over again. there should be a few good threads on moving tanks if you search, but generaly people recomend not moving the tank.
since it's not established, i'd just start over. Since it's just about at the end of it's cycle i'll assume there no fish/inverts to worry about. So, keep the lr in water, keep ls wet, and keep the filter media wet. it's a mess to move a tank, so if you do it have lots of bins to hold the water and lots and lots of towels. also, have fresh saltwater already mixed and ready to add (at the new location) to replace what is lost during the move.
nm, why do you have a fish in there if it isn't cycled???? are you using it to cycle?

Thats what i did when i moved my 90g tank down into my basement. I bought about 10 buckets with lids drained it all out and moved it :) dont see why that would work for u.

I saved everything when I moved my Tank. We put all the ls in buckets from home depot (with lids), the water went into buckets with the lr with it. The fish were in cooler. I also put the lr in my 30g mixing container.
It was very long process, but everyone made it.:)
I also have heard of getting a plastic garbage can from Home depot with wheels, and moving the lr that way.

just wanted to let everyone know that the moving of the tank went fine.......placed the LR in a coantainer and and took out about 75% of the water......the rest left in and along with 25LBS of LS and we just used our mucles to carry the damn thing....as of now all is fine. thanks for the tips!

Glad to hear all went well, hopefully moving that tank with the LS and a little water didn't do damage to it. Next time you'll probably have a bigger tank and IMO wouldn't take that risk. Anyways three things----1. you'll be glad you got a chromis and not a damsel (you shouldn't have those territorial battles, pretty peacefull fish) 2. welcome to the board 3. nice to see a fellow tri-state area member.....we are few.
