Moving Help

I am thinking about spending 6 months of the year in Massachussets and 6 months of the year in Florida. I have a 90 Gallon Reef tank with about half a dozen fish and some corals. Has anyone moved their system successfully? Any suggestions on how to do this? It's a three day drive each way. Maybe it just can't be done, especially that frequently, but I love the hobby and hate to give it up if I don't have to. I can't leave them behind because I don't have anyone to care for them.

can you say frequent travel miles???? that is what will be needed if you will move 2 times a year..... if you had a small mini reef 7 or 8 gallons then maybe.... but a big tank.... I think not,,,,, you must know somone ther who can watch over the thing...

No....I really don't. My friends think I'm nuts for having it in the first place....especially with the amount of $$$ I have put into it. They just don't seem to have my appreciation for the beauty of it and with that in mind....I can't expect them to tend to the up keep. I'll probably have to sell out. Hate to do it...it's taken so long for the reef to become just what I want it to be. Didn't expect to be moving around so much when I started this project. What a bummer!

Are you sure there is no one like family. Try educating your friends they may listen. I know I would not sell. Is this moving thing for this year only or for every year to come.

What is in the tank? I was just reading a post about a person that does not do water changes maybe you would have luck with this and all your care taker would have to do is feed the inhabitants and clean out the scum cup. You should if you don't get a timer for the lights so you only need a person there to feed however often you feed.
I wouldn't mind looking after them but the distance from NK to Mass is a long haul and it would be hard to talk my parents into haveing a fourth tank every six months But maybe.

I will have a home in both Mass and Florida so will be moving back and forth between them every six months for years to come. If it was just once I could probably wing it but I think this is going to become a lifestyle for me. I don't know about my friends and family. Again...If it was a one time short term situation I could probably seduce someone into helping me out.....every six months... for six months... is a lot to ask. I am not really yet accepting that I can't take it with me (acceptance may need to come as it get's closer) There's got to be a way to ship it from one place to the other. I just need to figure it out. Maybe I will have to downsize my tank and keep a much smaller reef that I can transport more easily. It's so hard to compromise.
