Moving long distance: what to do?

We're going to be moving long distance (about 900 miles) and I need suggestions on how/if to move my established 46g tank. It currently has two damsels and a bunch of inverts (shrimp, crabs). I can't imaging trekking that distance with water sloshing in a tank. Does anyone have any clever solutions? Should I just dismantle everything, bag the damsels, and restart the tank at the new location, giving the inverts away? A little lost here. I searched other threads but didn't find anyone with any great ideas for moving that kind of distance.
Help!
Thanks,
Mike

id get a bunch of 5 gallon buckets and try to capture all the water you can. Keep the live rock, and give all your little critters to the LFS

If it were me there would only be 2 options.
1 - Sell everything and start over at the new location
2 - Have someone hold everything and ship it to me when I was ready for it.
I would lean toward option 1.

I moved 1500 miles and decided to leave my 75 gal inwall behind, the tank was a huge selling point and i got extra money for leaving it. I used the money to help towards setting up my 150 once we got settled in new location. There was enough to do without having to set up an established tank and possibly going to fast and making mistakes. The hardest part was waiting for new tank to cycle once i bought the new tank. But yeah, i would sell off everything inside the tank and start over when you get settled in.

If you do move everything, line all the containers with a new plastic trash bag. This will keep the water from splashing all over the place.

I moved a 130 gallon, but only across town. 900 miles is a loonnnggg way. Moving in general is a pain the a$$. When you get to the new place you will have lots more to worry about than setting up your fish tank. Im not saying it cant be done...just I dont think its worth it for a 46 gallon. If it was me I would start from scratch, Think of it as a free pass...... I bet there is SOMETHING you wish you had done with this tank that you didnt do. Now is the time to set it up 100% the way you want.
