moving my tank HELP

So, I just noticed that my tank is twisting. I need some advice on how to move it. It is an older tank and I think I am just going to replace it. My question is could someone help me with how to transfer everything from one tank to the other. They will be right next to eachother. Can I just move my rock to my qt, syphon the water over to the other tank, move my sand and then put the rock back in? I only have two corals, mushrooms and zoo's. I know they are pretty hardy, so I am not too worried about them. I do have a bunch of pods and worms and things. Will these transfer over? Thanks for you help?

bump? umm, does that mean anything.
Yes, you can do as you described. If you wrap your rock in wet news paper that would suffice also.
Keep in mind you will only be able to siphon water from tank to tank until the tank levels are the same.

Thanks for the help. That makes sense about the syphon. I will just syphon into buckets after that. All bump does is move you post back to the top of the first page so more people will read it.

That's how I would do it. Maybe leave out enough water in the new tank so you could do a normal water change. All of your critters should transfer over. Basically, the only thing you are changing is the tank itself. Also, have extra carbon to help clear up the tank (or rinse the ones you have often)--not doubt it will get very stirred up. You may wanted to rinse off your LR in any extra buckets of the old tank water also, alot of build up gets in the holes and such. If I ever have to do this I will be putting wheels or some other means of easy movement under the new stand. HTH and good luck :)

thanks for the help. I just got done moving it over and your right, it is quite stired up. It was not very fun let me tell you. Moving sand is very tedious. I did expect that though, so no big deal. I also went up in size so I did get to add some fresh salt water too. Everything seems to be fine and the new tank is quite nice. I got one of the oceanic 30gal cubes. It looks pretty good. After it clears up a bit I will post pics. Thanks again
