Moving tips

I will be moving my 30 gallon into our new home next week. Does anyone have any good suggestions to making the move a smooth one? I have LR, corals, inverts and assorted fish. My plan is this: Saving as much water as possible. Putting the fish in one bucket, corals and inverts in another and the LR in a cooler. Whatever water is left over, in additional buckets. I was thinking of constructing a carrier out of reinforced wood and sliding the aquarium with the LS onto this for transport. Any other tips? Thanx!

I just moved my 20 Long yesterday. I needed a water change badly so I saved enough water to cover all of my LR, Coral and 2 fish in a large Rubber Maid container (probably 5 gal or so). I left my LS and enough water to cover it, my blue leg hermits, snails, and sea cucumber in the tank and very very very carefully moved it with a friend.
So far so good after topping off with RO/DI water. Fish and corals were all happy this morning when I left for work.

i moved my 55 just like SaGxMAN said he did. drain it and only leave enough water to cover your sand. keep as much of your water as possible, but a water change may be in order b/c youre gonna foul up the water quite a bit during the move. good luck!
