Cat - I just moved my 55gal and boy was it time consuming. This is what I did. I borrowed about 15 - 8 gal buckets and lids from my LFS. I removed all rock that had coral attached and put in the buckets, filled them with tank water. The remaining LR that didn't have coral attached was stacked in the buckets with tank water. I pretty much emptied all the water to the sand. I only had 60 lbs of LS so it wasn't too bad (only took two of us) and my gfriend helped some

I would leave the sand in the tank and then while moving leave the tank as level as you can not to disturb the sand. Do remember tho, whatever you use to hold your coral in will need to be done quickly (temp change becomes a factor). You may want to put a heater in the bucket that the corals are in until you get your water back in the tank.
Did I mention I moved from the 3rd floor ?? LOL
Oh, before I started I made sure that I had about 15 gallons of freshly made water at the place I was moving to add to the tank in case I lost water during the move.
Good luck to you and yes, let us know how things went.
