Mud filter

Anyone have any experience with mud filters? Are they good filters, bad etc.... I have one now that I purchased from LFS. They said you dont have to add any chemicals calcium, alk etc... Also they said I dont need a protein skimmer. Any suggestions?

I've went that route. Garbage. No substitute for good filtration and maintenance. Miracle mud is a shot at a targe 5 miles away with a bow and arrow.
Ditch the mud and just grow plants. Run a large skimmer rated for 2x your tank size. Do waterchanges, 20% a month minimum. Don't skimp on filtration.

Besides adding the skimmer, how about adding a wet/dry?

To each his own, my system is a eco-system with mudd and its been set up for 4 years and runnin great!

I have'nt yet, I plan on getting a protein skimmer in the near future. I've tested my water and everything has been great, I've recently brought my water to the pet store just to have them check it and theu told me if they could bottle it up that they would sell it. Why fix it, if its not broken?
