Mushroom fell off!

Hello all!
Question. I got one lonly mushroom from my LFS, just to see how it would do. It was attached to a small piece of coral which was sitting on a live rock. The other day I noticed that the mushroom was gone. And it was on the bottom of the tank. It is not shrinking and seems to be doing great. Now the question is what do I do with it now? Will it find a new home or should I move it?
Thanks

I had two separate pieces of mushroom rock each containing about 5 mushrooms. 1 mushroom from each rock fell off and have now attatched themselves to other rocks. They are doing great. That is one way to get them to start new colonies. This is a good thing. You can try to carefully move him to a safe piece of liverock if it looks strange but if he is doing well, You might just leave him alone. He knows what he wants.

Thanks, He is actually looking better than he did when he was on the rock. He seem to be growing which is good. DO they make new ones or do they just grow alone? I only have one lonly one. Should I get him a friend?

dockery... thats normal
Next time you go to the LFS, look at the bottom of their mushroom tank.. you will probably never have a doubt again.
I personally would place him somewhere, but I have had 4 now that just popped up somewhere else attached to my LR.

Mushrooms can reproduce asexually, meaning they seperate into two. Most likely this will happen in the spring. You can notice when it is about to seperate. If it is not a hairy mushroon you should be able to see two mouths and that will soon become two. Also If it is a hairy mushroom mine look really sick and beaten up but it soon split and is doing fine

Okay, If I move him onto some live rock. How should I do this. Just kind of scoop him up. Will he attach him self to the coral on the bottom of the tank?

I know that some people do not hesitate to attach mushrooms. What I did when the same situation occured is simply place the mushroom on a rock where there is little movement and surround him (its base) with crushed coral to avoid him to move too much. After a couple of days, he was sticking to the rock without any problems. Sounds simple but it took actually a bit ot time and several attempts :D

I did kinda like french..
I placed my mushroom where there was little current and put a shell (empty of course) next to it holding it against the rock.
48 hours later it was pretty much attached to the rock, and i just moved the shell.

Dont know if this is right or not but in my tank when a mushrooom falls off it's nice can start them or color in new spot. I look for a tiny hole in live rock, place the mushroom there set a old empty shell half way on it (the mushroom) to hold it there. Rubber bands work to then about a week the mushroom grows to the side of shell and appers to be fine I then remove the shell and feel the mushroom they all have attached to the rock so far knock on wood good luck Whip
