mushroom fragmenting ?

In the right enviroment mushrooms will multiply and spread all over the place. They will pop off and settle in a nice spot. If you want them all on one rock you have to contain them in a nylon, cup w/holes, etc. There are some additives Ive heard will make them spread more. I find mushrooms all over my tank.

You can just get a sharp razor and cut them into 4 pieces then use super glue gel to hold them down. Or you can aggravate them with a power head causing them to move leaving a small piece of the foot behind. That pice will grow into a new shroom.

I had to move my tank a while back and a bunch of my mushrooms got ripped taking the rocks apart. They all did survive and are new ones now.

That thread of Kips came in real handy just tonight. So I'm glad this was here to read.
I can second the glue AND netting of shroom frags. I glued some pieces tonight and later when I went in to move the rock a little, poof they were gone! In my frustration, and lack of supplies I cut out the neting from a big fishnet I had and used rubberbands....works great. I completely wrapped the rock rubble in the net and crisscrossed with the rubber bands.

how tight should you put it on and for how long?a little advice when the shrooms are large there will be a stalk comin out then the shroom. cut the face of the shroom away from the stalk because the stalk has got all the important stuff in it and cut the shroom to a few pieces.:D
