Mushroom ID

I really like this one... Dont know what it is or anything about it. I have been able to spot feed it meaty foods, but thats about all I can tell you. I dont think just by looking at it that I could frag it at all - seems to me that I would have to let it split on its own. I have it on the sandbed right now but does anyone know the lighting requirements?

medium/low light low flow. will take meaty foods (as you have figured out). you could frag it by breaking the rock its on then cutting the shroom at the break.

you can frag just about anything.

What kind of mushroom is it RZ?
I dont know how well you can see it in the picture, but there is a portion of the mushroom that is not attached to the rock. Could I cut this piece off even with no mouthparts? I'm just worried about cutting it since it is the only one I have...

if you're worried about it let it split by itself. Then you won't be cutting your only one. I think they are pretty resilient. I've never fragged a ricordia but I have done a mushroom. I think they are slightly less hardy but fragged the same way. RZ?

thats not a ric, its a frilly mushroom, they are tough you could definatly cut off the unattached portion. the small piece would have a longer recovery time than the main body would but it will definatly heal without a mouthpart.

Well I think you convinced me to try. The mushroom is about the diameter of a baseball/softball so I'll cut a quarter sized chunk off one side. If anyone wants pics, I can post some. Are you still adding to your frag thread RZ?

I'm going start a new one later today, I have a tile saw and I want to show people how to use it on LPS and SPS. but if you want to show fragging your frilly I'll tag a link onto the end of my fragging thread to your thread on your frag, I think it would be usefull for people to see others doing it as well.

just create a thread called fragging a frilly mushroom or whatever, I'll add it to my thread, I'll keep an eye out for it. please do your best to describe in detail what you do. thanks for the help.

Hummmm.... tile saw! Sounds much more useful than a pair of tin snips! I learned the hard way that you can split a mushroom in half by making a bad cut in a rock.
