Mushroom Polyp

I just bought a green ricordia mushroom polyp and now what? Do I just place it on the live rock?
I should have done some reading first, but I just wanted to try my luck with an inexpensive coral.

About 10 years ago i bought one and i glued to a piece of LR. Now i have and about a hundred of them. I would glue it very good in a deep groove of a LR and set it about mid level. I have 175mh and thats where they do they best in mine.

I have 2 of them...1 attached itself to a piece of LR, the other I have had to keep "rescuing" when it falls off. I think that I have finally gotten it into a spot where it seems to have "stuck".
From what I have found with mine (not an expert...but have the same mushroom), they seem to like areas that get decent flow while being in a spot that they can attach themselves without being blown over by the flow (in a rut or on a slope facing away from the flow).

Use a small piece of LR get the shroom and a toothpick. Pierce the foot of the shroom with the pick leaving a portion of it sticking out of each side of the coral. Now get a small rubber band and wrap it around the parts of the tooth pick that are sticking out and around the rock to hold it down. In a week or less the shroom will be footed onto the LR and you can put it anywhere you want.
Another method is to get small hair nets and cut them to fit around the rock and the shroom use the rubber band to hold it all down and bingo in a week it will foot on the LR. remove the hair net and rubberband and your all set.

i personally would not pierce it through the foot. the foot is everything. i would just hair net and rubber band.
you can use hair net, fist net to catch the fish, wedding vail, etc etc. some thing that will let water pass threw.

Piercing is fine I have done it on 4 separate occasions and its worked perfectly. Shrooms are one the hardiest corals you can have..if you chopped it up into pieces and let it go into your tank it would propogate into small shrooms all over the place. But the net method works equally as well.

krazy glue gel has worked like magic for all of my mushrooms. I have a whole large rock of thriving rics, and a wide assortment of different mushrooms. Just dry it off, krazy glue gel it to the rock, blow on it, and place it back in. Never had a problem. Oh yeah, put the mushroom in the substrate for a little while until it attaches itself to the sandbed, then glue that attached sand to the rock of your choice.
