Mushroom Problems

I bought a nice piece of rock from the LFS that had many mushrooms on it. Now a couple of them have spread to different pieces of rock and some of them are falling off and just laying on my DSB. I have been adding Iodine and Calcium, is there anything else that would help?

where do you have them in your tank? they like low light and not much current.I bought a piece of rock that had 1 good sized mushroom on it and I havent been adding any type of invert food at all and its growing quite well.Try moving them in your tank to a low lighted spot with little current and see if the perk up.If not ask a shark.
good luck

Sounds like they are either spreading by flying off the rock, or they are going to a more suitable spot. The ones on the sand will attach to the grains of sand. After they do this just pick them up and place them where you want them on your rock. The sand will hopefully weight them down well enough that they won't blow off before they attach to the rock. Good luck!

its only normal to have the mushrooms move around your tank. When you place them in a spot that they might not like, the little suckers pull out there legs and run to where they like. Just kidding. you mushrooms will move around until they are compatible with its surroundings. dont worry about the loose ones. my LFS sells individuals that eventually will place themselves on rocks. Good luck

Thanks for the info. I think some of them are in a too high of a current, that's why they are moving around.

I buy loose ones at the LFS and get a preety good deal on them at that. I just bring them home and place them on a rock until they attach. I have them all over my tank in all kinds of current and at all light levels. So far they are staying put and multiplying on their own. That's what works for me...HTH

Hey,
I've noticed that different shrooms like different light and current also. My hair mushrooms get a ton of light and some water movement and love it. I've got others that I've had to move down in the tank for them to open fully. HTH
