Mushroom won't stay glued

I picked up a new shroom about a week ago. It came on a shell and it fell off a day or 2 later so I glued it where I wanted it. The next day it fell again. I glued it to another rock with less flow the next day and now it fell again. It has been in the same spot for the past 2 days and it looks better than it ever has but the problem is that I can't see it very well. What should I do? leave it? or how do I PERMANENTLY affix it to a rock

if its on the sand, let it attach to the sand, and then glue the sand to your rock, other wise, put it in a shallow dish with rock rubble, and let it attach, then glue rubble. you can also use bridle netting, but the shroom on the rock you want, the wrap in netting until it attaches

use a small plastic dish...put some rubble rock in there....put the mushroom in the dish with the rock...put it in the lowest flow area of your tank...wait for it to attach itself...

it had rubble attached to it and I glued the rubble to the rock and it released the rubble and fell off. Now I have two spots on my rocks that just have rubble and sand glued to them

Everything is doing fine and actually growing really good. It has attached to where it fell and now looks more open and healthier than it ever has. It's just not where I wanted it. Why wouldn't it stay where I put it. The flow wasn't too high or anything. It just fell down behind a rock. It doesn't have rockwork above it so I know its getting plenty of light where it is. I just can't see it very well.

Mushrooms often won't stay where we want. It's like they're alive and have some desires for different accommodations or something....

Anyway, even if it had stayed glued where you had it, doesn't mean it would have stayed there forever. 9 times out of 10 they'll move to where they're happy and grow there.

Oh, and as time goes on, and as the mushroom splits, you'll eventually be able to see something coming out of the rockwork. Given the right conditions, mushrooms spread like crazy.

How long does it take for a shroom to start splitting? Right now its a little bigger than a drink chip from a bar (thats the only thing in front of me at the moment I could compare it to and no I am not at the bar) I would like to see it start spreading more. I also have a hairy shroom thats about 4-5" in diameter that I would like to see split as well.

Not terribly long, I have some that moved around a lot on the same rock, and every time they moved they left behind little mushroom "babies" in their wake, so maybe this one will do that. I have others, though, that haven't split yet and I've had them for a year.... though there are only one or two of the original 10 or so that I bought that are like that.

yea I got my hairy from my dad about 4-5 months ago and it has grown from about 1" to 5" and it has yet to split. The only corals I have had split so far are my zoas and they went from 1 polyp to 6 in about 2 months. The new shroom that keeps moving is the most colorful one in my tank so I would like it to start spreading so I can get alot of nice color in my tank. I could always frag it but I don't know if I would want to risk it right now. It took me forever to get the LFS to part with this one. (it was in their not for sale display tank)

What lighting and size tank do you have? Do you dose with trace elements or do you do frequent water changes? They might be just "getting by" with the way things are but could be doing better with more frequent water changes (which replaces the trace elements) and some better lighting, since though mushrooms and zoanthids are able to get by on lower levels of light they certainly do like more.

Well, that all sounds like it would be perfect, so I guess the only thing you could do is be patient and see how it goes. Hope they start growing for ya!

I had a red discosomas that I got and it left 3 baby shrooms within a week of being glued, lol.... im telling you... mushrooms are crazy!

I've found the best way to get discosoma to spread and multiply like crazy is decide you dont want them in your tank any more and try and remove them.....
I cant seem to get them all they pop up everywhere. there has to be a hidden colony amidst my rock work or something, because they just keep appearing everywhere. its enough to drive a sane man crazy.

unfortunately its the most colorful coral (which means I need more
) I have right now so I would like it to spread. I was thinking of fragging it but I want to wait a while since my first attempt at fragging didn't go as planned. The zoo and shroom I fragged didn't make it but the rest are doing great.
