mushrooms "care" for their young? lol

ok, so i know this is pretty silly that i'm even posting this, but i noticed it last week.
i have just a few mushrooms in my tank that my mom gave me. the big one i have (dunno what kind it is) has now dropped off two little mini-mushrooms :jumping: . lol. anyways, the first baby was left on the piece of rubble that the mushroom came on, so it got moved to another part of the tank. this second one that i noticed a couple weeks ago is behind the original mushroom, so i can't even see it normally. anyways. the big shroom always used to spread way out to cover a lot of space on the rock, but now it mostly just spreads forward, as if making sure that it's baby gets enough light. the little one does have to stretch a little bit, but that's nothing to what it would have to do if the big shroom extended fully like it used to.
just a little thing i noticed.... thought i'd share my mommy mushroom! lol

Here is a photo of my striped mushrooms, when I ordered it it said two, 3.5" mushrooms, but when I inspected it, there were 2 babys about 1" under each mushroom and three 1/4" mini babys on the side of the rock. Can you move the 1" babys off the rock or should I just let them be, do these guys move around on their own? you can see 1 baby in the center and another to the left of the orange sponge.

mine kinda just moves on it's own, but i know some people frag or move them or something. if my camera were decent i would take a pic of my shrooms, but, it sucks. lol

Just noticed the one on the bottom of the pic I posted above has moved about 1" farther down the rock, now both babies are fully exposed.

Cute story, but mushrooms dont care for their young in any way...lol
Mushrooms move pretty quickly when the need arises. I have seen "babies" move an inch or so in a 24 hr period.

don't worry, i know they don't care for their young. i just noticed that it wasn't spread out quite as much as it used to be, and i was bored. lol. :happyfish

It may not be technically true that parent 'shrooms actually "care" for their young...but I've noticed on several occassions that they indeed do seem to shelter them while they are young......

great pic NM reef! i was really surprised when i saw that it didn't spread out fully towards the back of the tank...especially since it seemed to favor that direction anyways.

The shroom has now moved about 3" and I've discovered that the smaller babies have now stretched out and I've discovered 3 more now that it's moved, so now I'm up to a total of 11 shrooms on this rock that was sold to me as having "two, 3" shrooms" now if the other large one would just move I might even find more. It looks like the one is going to vacate the rock and move onto an adjoing rock, guess things are getting a little crowded...LOL
