mushrooms...

a couple of weeks ago, i bought a colony of five large, striped blue mushrooms. lately, i have noticed as many as nine new mushrooms sprouting at the base of the original five. the problem is since i noticed the baby mushrooms forming, i have also noticed that the parent mushrooms do not open as fully as before. has anyone ever noticed this before? is this a natural adaptation that allows the babies to grow and not be shaded by the parents? the parents and babies both look fine, only the parents don't open up as fully as they used to....please help if you can :)
