So I happened to come across some mushrooms:

and I was wondering what are my best possibilities to keep them alive and well. Do I need coral type food, just lighting, or a mixture of both? I have been trying to read what I can, but alot of it is confusing, or conflicting. I figured I would come to the source and see what I can find out. Thanx tons guys!

i think you need some lighting, what type of lights do u have now? how many watts?
how long has the tank been set up? water parameters?
how old are the lights u have?
if all of these are good you should be able to get them you dont have to feed them although some people do, which may make them happy healthier and grow faster

I don't do anything special for my mushrooms. Some are as big as the palm of my hand. I have 3 watts per gal of PC lighting, I don't add anything into the tank except for regular water changes, and any flake or frozen foods that fall on them they will close up and eat.
Mushrooms are soooooo easy to take care of, just keep good water quality and enjoy.

Sorry about the long wait on the info. I just upgraded my lighting in the tank to a 30" Corallife Aqualight Double CF for my tank, and added a Maxi-Jet 900 with a wave deflector. The tank itself has been going for 6 weeks now, and according to all the tests everything is in the green. I actually got them from a guy I work with that has a 90g that the mushrooms took over, and he doesn't want to just throw them away. I actually am getting another 5 tomorrow. They have really taken off well, and most of them are about 3" in diameter. I also ended up getting a green starburst and a brain coral (Trachyphyllia geoffroyi) the other day. Everything seems quite content, and the brain is happily munching away on mysis shrip I have been spot feeding it.
