mushrooms

I posted this on the newbie board but figured i would put it here too, not sure if the same folks read both.
My LR came with some really bright almost flourecent blue mushrooms on it. I have a 75g with 160w of URI NO lights.
Should the mushrooms be placed high or low? Also what are the names of this type? I have heard i can cut them up and they will propogate, is this easy to do? Will they spread on their own? How long does it take?
Also is it normal for them to close up sometimes?

As far as I know there are two species of blue mushroom corals. One is of the Actinodiscus species and is called the blue giant mushroom and has a smooth surface. The other species is Actinodiscus coeruleus, the blue mushroom coral. I am guessing it is smaller although in the book they look the same.
I think depending on the lighting you should place them in the middle.
What type of lighting will you get. If you get metal halides then they can stay at the bottom.
