well I must be a fool I had a TTC a few weeks ago and since have had the rock re cycleing but I now have sludge (brown orange colored) from the top of the water that cascades down also most of the snails are dead and the worms too should I just scrap this and go to fresh again? how will I know if the L.R. still has any life left? I may just be creating a cess pool of "dead rock " any pointers for the fool who didn't quit?

IMO dont dump the rock you have... you could even take it out and hose it off... good luck and keep us posted. Im interested to hear how it unfolds
edit (oh sorry, I just read your earlier post)
how is your health after all of this?

OOOH never mind, Hi Shawna

I didn't look at the poster name but now that I see it, it all comes flooding back to me now.
If you want to try all over again I would suggest a LOW bio load tank.
Save the rock and, like was said you can just hose it off and place it in some saltwater. I would also have someone get rid of the old sandbed totally, and this time only go with about two inches or bear bottom even.
