Ya my cbs has eaten a longnose hawkfish, and a coral beauty. about every other day it seems he takes a run at one of my fish. I got him because my tang ate my cleaner and the lfs said cbs would do well... (ive actually seen the cbs "cleaning" my yt and clown with its hand down in there mouths, they seemed to like it)... I dont no if he takes a run at the fish because he wants to clean, or eat the fish, but i dont want to take a chance so im feeding him untill i can get him out!
Every once and a while someone takes off his whiskers, cant help but

I am no expert on a CBS...I have never had one, but I was told they pester fish (why I never got one)...but I doubt it killed them. If you are loosing fish to the CUC...you might have a problem.

I caught the murderous little monster! She zigged when she should have zagged! she is now imprisoned in my sump. I have decided to spare her in favor of trading her for something at the lfs. I think my fish are about as close to smiling as they can get!

Hi I'm relatively new to these forums, and was hoping that I could get some advice. My CBS seems to be also the killer in my 30 gl tank and will leave today no matter what. It has been very particular on his preferences...he seems to enjoy the thin and long looking fish (purple fire, canary blenny, and engineer gobby).

Were you able to catching him after all? What will be the best way without having to take all the rocks out?

I do have a couple of emerald crabs, about 10 hermit crabs, a clown fish, and a royal gramma (who lately is afraid to come out and enjoy the tank because the CBS has snatched at her/him).

Thank you!

Andrea

Put some food inside a bottle with the top cut off. It may take a while but eventually it will go inside the bottle and then out a net over the end. Caught.

A octopus or eal feed on shrimp best suggestion is octopus because their reef friendly

Besides being VERY "special needs" critters in terms of housing and care, a ceph would clean out every crab in Andrea's tank, which I doubt she wants.

CBS get large and cranky, period. I kept one that grew to the size of my hand (excluding antennae) for about 8 years in my reef, and while it didn't bother most of the fishes or inverts in the tank, it would indeed grab at any fish that swam thru what it considered its territory. I suspect Andrea's CBS has claimed her entire 30 gal, which isn't much in terms of real estate to divide territories.

On the plus side, CBSs do feed on bristleworms, so if they bother you, a CBS is your buddy...
