Well, I am approaching my 1st year with my tank. Let me first say THANKS to all the helpful people on this site.
I will also say that this was my FIRST EVER aquarium, and 12 months ago...I knew absolutely NOTHING about fish,corals,lighting,skimmers,fuges,ph,alk,SG,mag,..well you get the idea. However,,,after countless hours of reading and research and re-reading and re-researching and asking lots of questions...I have made it through the first year pretty sucessfully. I have lost a few corals...1 to RTN, and a Scolymia due to underfeeding I believe, but all in all no real big problems.
A little background on my tank....I bought it used from an ad in the paper. The guy had owned it for about 8 years i think. The stand was junk and so was the canopy. I took some careful measurements and built a 2x4 stand for it. The guy was nice enough to help me get it set-up at my place. I got the 130 gallon drilled tank,200 lbs +- of LR covered with coraline,hood with single 175 watt MH and 2 -vhos, wet/dry,protein skimmer, squmossa clam, Purple Tang,Royal Gramma,and a bunch of other stuff...for 3 hundred dollars. I also saved EVERY reciept for ANYTHING I bought for this set-up..wood for the stand,stain,clear,food,bulbs,anything I bought I threw the receipt in the box. So without further delay here are some pics from day 1 to current. And a grand total at the end.
