My 10G Nano

Here is my ten gallon nano guys and gals. It is nothing special. LS/LR, a few basic corals, common anemone, coral banded shrimp, domino damsel and a valentini puffer. Believe it or not, the puffer leaves the small amount of coral I DO have alone.

RAY,
What a jewel! Thanks for sharing your Nano with the rest of us!
Would you share some specifics? You said it's 10g's, is it a commercial nano or a 10g glass w/ an Eclipse 1 hood? How long has the tank been established? Love to hear some more specific information? Thanks!

No commercial nano here. It was my girlfriends old goldfish setup! We now have five tanks in the house. 150, 55, 10, 10, 29. We are a bit crazy. Tank has been up about five months now.

Wow! Thanks for the info Ray...
What is the lighting and filtration system your using then?
I am trying to decide on a 12-24g Aquapod, Eclipse, JBJ, or Red Sea Max. All seem to have issues and as a Florida resident, I am concerned about heat build up, energy efficiency (in case i have to power it off my generator during a Storm) and effective filtration and maintenance.
Appreciate your thoughts....

I like mine alot. I am running a coralife ballast with a 65w 10,000 and a 65w actinic. Also have two lunar lights which stay on 24/7, so when the timer shuts off the lunar moon lights are on. For filtration a have a simple whisper 20 filter. Keep in mind though with a reef I don't really need the filtration. I alternate my skimmer from my 150 gallon to the 10 gallon every so often and pull out about a dixie cup worth of black skimmate. Right now being so cold I have huge temperature fluctuations though. The 150 varies around 0.3 degrees throughout the day. I won't even tell you how much the 10 gallon varies!

So Ray.... Let me get this straight. A $ 10.00 Perfecto all glass aquarium with a 'coral life ballast'(?) w/ actinic lights and a Whisper outside box filter are the extent of your equipment? WOW! Is the lighting a home built unit or did you purchase it as a unit? I mentioned that in Florida I was concerned about TOO MUCH heat
and your concern is the opposite.

More years ago than I care to admit, I used to use a power diatom earth filter to polish my aquarium water. What are you using in the Whisper box? If you were going to do a filter/skimmer combo.... any suggestions? Thanks Again!

Yesterday I wen't to do a water change and decided is was time to change things up. I don't know if I like it as much as the old setup, but the Damsel does. He has more places to hide/swim. The rock work no longer rests against the back of the tank.
