thanks I was realy happy with my rock selection.
The sand is blue, but when I took the picuter I turned out the lights in my room and turned off the flash, so everything outside of the tank looks pitch black

not exactly sure yet...
Definatly going to get 1 clown, maybe royal gramma or some type of blenny. A good cleanup crew.
I am definatly not ready for any type of corals yet, maybe over the summer I will look into that and invest in new lighting.
Honestly I think it looks awesome even without any corals, a fish will definaly help

Ya i really like your aquascaping and rock selection. I think the blue sand looks great! fish will be a great addition to your tank. You could get a clown, gramma, and a yellow watchman goby, it would be a very colorfull and active fish selection. I think all the yellow and orange would also go with the blue sand. Maybe 15 hermits, 7 turbos, 1 cleaner shrimp and/or sexy shrimp.

With coral-line growth, the blue sand, and some colorfull fish, your tank could be colorfull without corals. BUT it could be super colorfull with some nice corals. Your tank could be so colorfull when corals go in. If you have all this, you should be VERY proud of your first (right?) saltwater ttank

Yup, my first.
I changed the aquascaping around just a very little bit.
The rock that creates the little center tunnel, I shifted it to make that tunnel a slight bit bigger and the rock that sits on top of that one I shifted to the right to make it another tunnel, instead of just like a canyon (couldnt think of anyway else to describe it)
I just topped off and cleaned the glass ill try to get another pic

It is the 12 lb package from here, its really 10 lbs of rock, but the extra 2 lbs comes from the wet newpaper and packaging.
They really tape it up well

pictures coming within the next half hour...hopefully, I might have this figured out

pics
I couldnt figure out how to resize them, because the picture was too big to resize it on paint. So I just used the auto resize on imageshack.
previous left side of tank

previous right side of tank

prvious side veiw. It has a bit of a C shape, and still basically looks the same

my lil working station. The tank stand is actually a reinforced microwave stand
if you notice the board in the front doesnt really match. The top was starting to bow after a while when I had the same tank as freshwater on it, so I knocked out the warped support and put in a new one before I setup this tank, theres another board just like it in the back.
That is my pellat gun and Red Rider (havent shot my eye out yet!!) behind the buckets of water leaning against my dresser. The post with the hat is actually the foot of my bed. And the tank faces my glider chair that I am sitting on when I took the picture.

Newer aquascape

Cool, so is the tank above that stand with all your supplies on it?
Do you have a test kit? If so what are your readings? If not i highly recommend you getting 1

Yes the tank is above the stand with everything. I have nitrite/trate, amonia test kits. I also have a little bottle of PH strips that also test for trite/trate, sometimes I compare them to my liquid tests and its usually pretty acurate.
In the picture I had forgotten to put away my ammonia test kit.
oh ya
amonia is hovering around 1-1.5ppm. Im not sure if I should try to make it go down any further, I dont want to slow down my cycle too much.
Ph - 8.2
SG - 1.027, thats my reading with my deep6 hydrometer, this weekend im gonna try to get to my LFS to get it calibrated...thats if my LFS even uses a refractometer. For all I know they use a hydrometer also
I am not sure what my trate/trites are at the moment.

Very nice set up!
I really like the blue sand and rock work! You should try to keep a sun coral in there. They don't need lighting at all, they just need meaty foods.

Ya the ammonia will kill things in your tank so try to lower that. Also try to lower the salt a little by adding some more water. Other than that....

ya Its all going smoothly now, I am gonna try to get the salinity down a bit. At first I was adding the right amount of salt to get the 1.020, then I would just add more to get it up to 1.026, now I dont have any idea on the EXACT amount of salt I need to get an exact salinity in a 1g container to 1.025.
Also Im trying to make a gravity fed autotopoff....but im not a plumber, and my design has an obvious flaw.....water keeps coming and coming and coming and doesnt stop where it supposed to
ALso I changed the rocks around some more, ill get some pics tommorow cause its 11 PM already. I dont think it looks as good as before, but it seems a little more practical. The structure is taller, just as wide, and theres 3 tunnels that are actually big enough for fish to swim through.
