Ran over a dead skunk once its only the dead ones you have to worry about when you hit them with a car( not that I'm aiming or anything) Kept about five air fresheners in their to deal with it and it was till pretty bad tok about a month to go away

Baking soda and vinegar made into a paste and applied while in the bath tub. The longer it is left on the skin the more of the smell uit will remove.

Sounds like Alyssia already knows this, but for anyone else interested, this recipe works fairly well for getting skunk stench out of kids, dogs, etc...
  • 1 - *NEW* 16-oz. bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide
  • 1 cup Water
    1/2 cup Baking Soda
1 Tablespoon Shampoo (or dishwashing liquid)
Mix everything together and apply -- rub it in well to skin and hair (or fur, as the case may be). Marinate in it (i.e. wait!) for about 10 minutes, and then rinse thoroughly. Double or triple the batch depending on the number of kids, size of dog, etc. Repeat treatment if desired.
Important: don't attempt to save the mixture. Throw out any leftovers and mix a new batch whenever necessary.
Happy deskunking.

I don't think they were sprayed directly, their clothes weren't wet but man they stink,um,pretty bad.....
Clothes have been thrown away, child has been washed in a baking soda/peroxide concoction (sp)
We have deer, fox, turkey, all kinds of animals and what they choose to irritate is a freakin skunk. The best part is they CLAIM they weren't doing anything....it just came up to them and started spraying!
Boys

my dogs got sprayed a few weeks ago. "baking soda/peroxide concoction" worked great. But to get it out of the plasic training collars.... a few days in the sun was the only cure.
