No it's all real coral ( Well real dead coral) Believe it or not almost every piece in there I picked up in GUAM right off a remote beach, just laying there scattered along rocks and such. I was stationed there for a few months.
Although harvesting live coral and such is illegal I was allowed to collect all of this free.
The red pipe organ and branch coral pieces I actually paid for.

I bought the house in 2003, with an unfinished basement. ABout 6 months later I started to finish the basement and my dream has always been to build a in tank wall and have a fish room behind it. So thats what i did. There is a 10x8 Room behind the tank. SO the tank has been up and running for about 6 years. I wanted to go reef, but I have a 55 Reef upstairs and so this came out so beautiful that I left it as Fish Only.
I decided to make the entire basement a nautical theme ( imagine that), so I even used sand grit paint, and the white was just a natural choice and YES to make it look like a picture window.
When you said that I was like, FINALLY someone who gets it, LOL
I used to clean the coral about once every 3 months, but since I added a 20gallon refugium in the room and plumbed it in to this one I haven't had much algae grow on the coral in the DT. Plus I think it's just a s good looking even with a little dingy look then to always have the "bleached" look.
This picture is only a few days old, and I haven't cleaned the coral in probably 5 months, at least !
I also have various sand sifting snails, a sea urchin, hermit crabs, and two huge crabs in the tank and they keep the sand and coral pretty clean of anything !
Now - the acrylic walls inside I clean about 2x's a month with an acrylic scrubber pad - 10 minutes work max !
Right now my stock is 2 fish shy - I was in the desert this year for 4 months and my son in law (stayed at the house while I was deployed) somehow "let" my puffer and another butterfly die.
Really don't know how they were healthy as hell !
SO I will probably be trading off the LION , he's a huge PIG ! and will be looking to add a few more. Any ideas ???
Well AGAIN - Thanks - Makes it nice to have your tank appreciated !!

The emp Angel is really cool. When I first got him I was really nervous, the most I ever paid for a fish. And he developed some whitish blotches at first. I had him in QT for 2 months and after posting several questions here I was able to get some GREAT advice and NOT medicate. It basically was stress. I was so glad I didn't medicate for no reason. Then I finally moved him into my DT and within a week her was twice as colorful and no spots or blotches. From then on he is awesome and he even makes noise !!! He grunts and you can hear it from across the room. It mostly has a thing against the Butterfly. Mostly at feeding time. I mix his diet, sponge, greens, shrimp and HE loves Formula one and two pellets. It's like he gets a high off teh smell. When I drop in some he races around like a kid in a candy store. I also have been using fresh garlic oil once a week on his food. Other than that he gets along with everyone and is probably my proudest achievement keeping him close to a year now ! AWESOME FISH !

I have always wanted a powder brown or a Hippo/powder blue tang. I guess I have read so much about them being SO susepticale to disease and such I have always been to nervous to try one. It seems there are so many posts here about them getting ich due to a temp drop or water change etc etc. My tank has been up for almost 7 years and I have not once had to deal with ICH yet........)

Sweet, thanks for the info. My lfs is gettin some larger 5-6 inchers in tomorrow. They said that they already have theyre adult colors. If it wasnt for my clown trigger, id get a small one and grow it out. Hopefully the angel will be big enough not to back down to him. When i pick it up, ill post pics.
