My 1st reef tank

I started with a little 12 gal tank and had to move up I have gotten so addicted to the reef tanks, 25 years ago when I first started with saltwater tanks it was unheard of for the hobbist to have anything like a reef tank, I quit doing salt and freash about 10 yrs ago, (moving around, kids, etc) when I got to a place where I could have my saltwater tanks again I did. Well now I am out of control...I have the 12 gal, with just a few fish and inverts in it, 55 gal for fish, Pacasso Trigger, Porcupine puffer, Dwarf fuzzyface lion, Yellow tang, Jewel damesel, coral beauty, dracoator crab, Poor mans morish Idol, crabs, snails, 4 different urchins and a couple curly cue anneomies, that's enough for that tank, 29 gal going to be another small reef, Just cycling it right now, and My 75 gal reef. Thanks to Saltwaterfish.com I have a wonderful array of exotics in this little gem of mine. Going to be adding a bit more coral, fans, polyps and a few more inverts. I am not the best photographer, but I am learing.
Thank-you Salltwaterfish.com for all your contributions to this tank, I wouldn't have it if you didn't have such wonderful pieces, fish, and inverts!!

Welcome to SWF!
I LOVE the way you set up the LR. I'd like to do something like that in my next tank. Looks great!
Holy frijoles, though! It seems you have a ton of fish in that 55: "55 gal for fish, Pacasso Trigger, Porcupine puffer, Dwarf fuzzyface lion, Yellow tang, Jewel damesel, coral beauty, dracoator crab, Poor mans morish Idol, crabs, snails, 4 different urchins and a couple curly cue anneomies."
I don't like flaming, and I hope this isn't taken as such, but all of those fish you listed should not be in a 55, with the exception of the Dwarf Fuzzy and the Coral Beauty.
The Trigger, Puffer, Tang and Heinochus Butterfly (that's what I'm assuming you meant by "Poor Man's Moorish Idol.") will grow to be very large fish, and you'll find that the general consensus is that these fish combined belong in no less
than a 100 gallon tank.
The Tang, especially, is a very active fish, and I imagine with all of those different tankmates and the small-ish tank size, he's probably a little stressed...
Hopefully you have plans to re-locate them to a bigger tank

Anyway, I think you'll find a bunch of helpful people on these boards, so don't be afraid to ask away! This is where I got my start, and I am officially obsessed

Good luck!

i will have to agree that is alot of fish for a 55 but maybe once you get the 75 up you can just fill that tank with fish you already have

i also think i see a maroon clown and some other clown, generaly you shouldnt mix clowns as the will fight usuly to the death, my bets on the maroon, they are agressive and can get big, i saw one at my lfs and it was the size of my hand it was huge

I am growing fast, am planning to grow with the fish. These guys now in the 55 started in a 29 gal and as they have grown the tank is growing with them, next move is the reef will grow up and the fish will move up. and it will just continue. The 29 gal is now my refuge. It is nice to have water that is cycled and ready to go all the time. Not having jugs setting aroung with airpumps getting ready for the water changes 2 times a week. just little ones, but enough to keep things clean. I really watch what and how much I feed and the lighting. So I don't end up with all the extra algea and test test test. lots of filtration, which I don't think you can over do. but th bad thing is I just lost 2 skimmer in a week ..ouch on the pocketbook. but that is what to expect in the hobby. Anyboby got any nice used ones out there? Like one that goes on the inside of the tank and also skims the top of the water. Well anway thanks guys, love your input and right now everyone is still inporportion to the tank. They are still babys.
