My 1st Tank Ever, Need Suggestions and Advice

Hi I am brand new to the forum and fairly new to the addiction of Saltwater Aquariums. About a year ago, I was given a 75 Gallon Reef Ready tank with, I think its a Sump, 40 gallon. Right now I have that white filter media, bio balls, and a sleeve of carbon rock in the sump. In the tank I have a lionfish, a blonde naso tang, snowflake eel, v-tail grouper, and a spotted dogface puffer. All are fairly small cept for the lionfish. At the moment I do not have any live rock in the aquarium, but do plan on getting it within the next week or two. I dont plan on putting any other fish in the tank, unless the lion gets much bigger I might find him a bigger tank.
I have pretty much learned on my own everything that I know about saltwater aquariums, which isn't much so any suggestions or things I have wrong or should or shouldn't have would really help. Right now I have some type of bright green algae growing but doesn't seem to be too bad. I do 20% water changes and change carbon once a month, change filter media regularly.
Im not exactly sure what type of lighting I have it is just a single 4 Ft bulb across top of tank, I am interested in upgrading the lighting just not sure what is best for what I have.
Thanks for any help. Look forward to getting to know some of you.

Hi,
Welcome to the site. For a fish only tank, the lights are fine. You really needed the rock first, and lots of it. You are way overstocked on fish and way off on what should be in your tank....Just a quick google on your fish size and I came up with the following information.
Dog face puffer needs a 100g minimum tank
V tail Grouper needs a 90g minimum tank
Naso tang needs a 135g minimum tank
Snowflake eel needs a 50g minimum tank
The Lion unless it's a fuzzy dwarf, needs 75g minimum tank
I'm not blasting you, but you need to fix your stock list before it all hits the fan. Re-home all but two of your fish.

Hello and welcome to the boards! I hope you enjoy your stay.
I agree with flower, you are overstocked with fish that will get way too big for your tank.
Go slow and easy!

You could have a nice pred tank with a SE and Lionfish! Both hardy, starter fish. Other fish Definetly need to go. I would say 180+ gallons for the naso, since they get BIG(18") and swim alot, so they need swimming room.

Hi and Welcome!!!
What are you going for in a SW tank? Do you like the predator tanks?? Lots of cool things you can do with that. But you need live rock. You can buy like 30-50 lbs of LR and then the same amount of base dry rock. That should give you 60-100 lbs of rock, which is a nice start. Later on you can add more. You should be looking to have around 1 -1/12 lbs per gallon (75g X 1 or 1.5= 75lbs to 112.5lbs of rock).
Do you have any pics of your set up?? We love pics!!

Thanks everybody, yah I had a feeling I was going to hear this. Like I said they are all fairly small atm and I will have to eventually find them a better home. As of right now there is no fish longer than 5inches other than the Lion and the SFE. I am going to talk to the LFS I bought all my fish from, I know he will give me part of my money back as long as they are healthy which they all are.
I have a quick question regarding changing the carbon sleeve. About how often should it be changed and is there anything I have to do to the rock before I put it in? Label sais its "Premium Activated Carbon".
