This is just personal opinion but I would get rid of that rock while you still can. The plant is Caulerpa and will send vines out all over the place and become impossible to get rid of. It looks to me like Caulerpa Taxifolia. Do a google on it. It has actually been banned for sale in California.

thanks for the info on caulerpa. like i said the wife picked it out, not so much for the plant, but the hole near the bottom. she thought that would be a good hide out for a fish or something. i'd like to keep the rock, can i get rid of the caulerpa some way and still keep the rock ?
i got about 100.00 in the lr. i think thats about 25lbs of rock.
You could take the rock out, rip off what you can and then cook the rock for a while. When you pull the Caulerpa off it still leaves the little roots from the runners and this will grow again. That it why it is so hard to control because you can't really harvest it out of the tank once it gets a foothold.
So some searches on this site for Caulerpa. Also some googling. Don't just take my word for it because I am now anal about the stuff because I am having such a hard time getting rid of it and it is taking over my tank.

the damsels are doing ok with each other at the moment. not much aggression toward each other, that will probably change as times go by and they get bigger.

how is the pygmy angel with your corals?
so for so good with the pygmy hasnt messed with any of it yet
Great looking tank, I agree with spanko, you really should get rid of it from your tank. it is an asexual plant that will eventually reproduce in your tank, and when it starts it is very hard to control.
i got rid of the caulerpa. after spankos and anthony's opinions and some googling on it, it's gone. i'm going to try to salvage the rock and hopefully be able to use it again at a later date. the emerald crab will have to find another hole to hide in.
thanks for the help guys
