the frogspawn looks great there!!!!
Thanks Spanko. I'm really enjoying just looking at. I do a little photography now and then and even though this is a little grainy, it makes a great abstract look.

maybe a galaxea coral! galaxy... u might have to move that powerhead a bit though so its not blowing directly on it!
I had to go and look up what a galaxea coral was and it is a beauty. I wouldn't mind one in the purple of yellow color.

I never made it to my LFS Tuesday, but will definitely get there Friday or Saturday, need a few things and I really want to get some peppermint shrimp or another bottle of Aiptasia-X. I just keep finding one or two of them, kill them off and then it a week or so I find another one or two.

Went to the fish store yesterday and bought myself a Kenya Tree frag. Hopefully I've put it in a good place. It opened up within an hour after I put it in the tank. I also ordered a Bicolor Blenny to add but it won't get in until Thursday and I'll pick it up on Saturday. Here's the Kenya Tree:

What do you think??

Morning. I read about it being a spreader and that it will frag itself. I've got another very small tank set up (6 gallons) that I have put some snails in and live rock. I was going to use it as a QT tank but goofed that up by adding LS to it - that's what I get for acting first and reading second. I figure if it gets out of hand, I'll just put some of it in that tank and let it go wild. I'm going to get another small tank and set that one up properly as a QT tank. I'm laughing at myself really, I've never done fish except Betta's and here I am with not just one saltwater tank but 2 and now looking for a third. Go figure. Have a great Sunday.

I have dipped coral in lugals solution...but I have never used a QT for a coral. Mushrooms and Kenya don't require much light but other corals can't live without bright lights...what do you do then?

Where I get my corals, the fish guy has some fish in with his coral. So, the wife and I decided to start QT'ing the corals too. Ich and other parasites may be in the water and well, yadda yadda, yadda. So, in some cases we merely dip and or flush, heavily rinse off the coral prior to putting in the DT's. I WILL NOT loose any more critters to hypo or coppering do to ich or a parasite. So,..... they get QT'ed.
My Coral tank does have HO T5's

I have to confess to never QT'ing anything yet as I really didn't realize it was the best thing to do. I have to be thankful that the Sea Gods have been good to me so far and I haven't had any problems. But I do want to set up a QT tank - especially after reading about meowsers problems with ick. I thought I was setting up a QT tank with a small tank I had but I didn't realize I should not have added LS to it and I did. So I have a 6 gallon tank sitting with LR, LS and a few snails in it. Actually I'm going to add a small CUC to it. Back to the Kenya Tree, it seems to like my DT, it's all opened up and looking good - so fingers crossed. My DT has metal halides for lighting but I have the Kenya Tree sitting in a spot as some LR overhanging it.

LOL...such will power...if I had a QT with the right lights...it would become a reef tank sure as life. I have read others do QT coral for the same reason, so I understood the WHY...I was wondering what you do for more light needy corals.

If the coral needs very high lighting I have to put them up at top. Right now we have an anemone and the tree. The anemone cruizes around until it finds its happy plave, typically on the right side of the tank. If I notice the anemone is traveling close to the tree I move the tree.
