Folks, I have been into SW for a little over a year now, having kept FW tanks for many years before. I have learned a lot in the past year, much of that gleaned from this board. Thanks to all.
Anyway, here are a few pics.
I built the cabinet and canopy using cabinet grade oak. The cabinet top is reinforced inside with 2"X2" pine as well as some thick angle aluminum I had laying around. I put several coats of poly on the cab & canopy inside and out.

My 14 gal DIY sump:

Another sump shot. See my Aqua C?

I recently added my first corals(mushrooms & lt plate). Not really too fancy looking yet, but I like it so far and I'm trying to take things slowly. The reddish rock is some base rock I added a few months ago. It has acquired a fair amount of life at this point.

Firefish chilling by the lt plate:

Shrooms and a snail:

Well, that's pretty much it for now. Hopefully in another year I shall post more pics. Thanks again to all who have imparted their wisdom and expertise.

Hey thanks guys! I will post some more pics of the canopy etc. as soon as I can get my wife to shoot 'em. She won't let me mess with her new camera and the other one we have doesn't take as good pics as the new one.

Great build.
I dont see any vent ports to prevent the downstairs from getting soggy.
I see the ones on the canopy but not on bottom cabinet. Am I just missing them?

Thanks! Actually most of the cabinet back is open. I had to build it with a pretty much open back so I could get the sump tank in as it won't fit through the front.

By request here are some more pics of the canopy.
For the canopy lid I cut a piece of 1/4" plastic perf board which I painted a gold-ish color. The board easily lifts off for access to the tank top.

Inside the canopy:

This pic shows the HOT power filter that I converted into a mini-fuge with chaeto. You can't really see it, but I built a small enclosure from plexi-glass to house a s c r e w-in compact flourescent bulb for the fuge. It sits right on top of the power filter.

That's all folks. Thanks again for the compliments!
